In recent years those of us in the west have become increasingly aware of the ancient wisdom inherent in the prominent eastern philosophies. We are beginning to understand that we are not the sole source of knowledge and wisdom. There is a lot more our culture will eventually embrace, but an evolution of thougth is well on its way.
The symbol on the top is the ancient Sanskrit symbol of OM. It symbolizes the sound and image of God. Our understanding of the existence of an infinite being goes back over thousands of years and is at the heart of many different streams of philosophical thought. The additional symbols represent some of the most notable philosophies which seemed to profess a deeper understanding of the basic nature of reality. The result of this knowledge has created level of interest that can evolve in a much more open minded framework. In many cases, this represents a departure from previous methods.
Sometimes something can be staring us right in the face and we don't seem to stop and really examine what may be very obvious. We become content with certain concepts and we accept them as fact and don't think about the true meaning behind the words. When this occurs, there is a real danger of not allowing a deeper and fuller understanding of some ideas which could be of great consequence in our lives. This tendency seems to particularly present when we are casually dealing with philosophical or metaphysical concepts. This writer was guilty of this flaw in attempting to understand.
Growing up in a very parochial atmosphere, I was expected to accept what I was being taught without questioning. It was'n that I felt the ideas were incorrect. I willingly embraced the concepts without fully exploring the meaning. The cause of my expanded contemplation was a careful examination of a philosophy which was supposedly even more ancient than all of eastern philosophies. I am referring to Hermetic wisdom found in a little book called The Kybalion. It contained a series of laws which seem to be truly universal. They provide a solid foundation which leads to a far greater level of understanding. This comes about in a unique way. It does not provide answers to your questions. It simply provides the individual laws and tells you to become a true student. if you do not, these laws will simply be a group of words with little or no impact. I took the statement to heart and began a journey which completely my view of reality. I realized that since we all have our life within that infinite being; we are connected to all of reality. Previous to this new understanding I was completely skeptical in regard to anything connected with the so called supernatural. From this point I began to investigate the tremendous potential that belongs to us all. More importantly, that infinite reality exists in all of us. Because of this, each soul deserves to be treated with the highest respect. If you would like to discover the universal laws of The Kybalion, follow the link below. Just remember you will have to become a student and discover how the laws interact with each other.
